FAQs

Getting Started

Podshot is a podcast companion app that helps you remember what you hear. You can listen to podcasts, capture key moments, and let AI turn them into clean, searchable notes, summaries, and transcripts you can come back to anytime.

You have two ways to use Podshot:

  • Listen inside Podshot: Play a podcast in the app and tap the capture button when you hear something important. Podshot grabs that moment, generates an AI summary and transcript snippet, and saves it as a Podshot with your notes.
  • Use your existing podcast app: Keep listening in your favorite player (like Apple Podcasts or Spotify), take a screenshot when something hits, then open Podshot. We detect the show and timestamp from the screenshot and turn that moment into a Podshot.

Either way, your Podshots are saved, organized by show and episode, and easy to search later.

Podshot works on:

  • iOS: iPhone (and iPad where supported)
  • Android: Most modern Android phones

Check the App Store or Google Play listing for the current minimum OS version supported.

No. Any headphones, earbuds, or speakers that work with your phone will work with Podshot. The app uses your device’s standard audio output - nothing special required.

You can:

  • Listen directly in Podshot using our built-in player, or
  • Use Podshot as a companion with almost any podcast app that shows the show/episode info in the screenshot (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, etc.).

We don’t require a deep integration with a specific app - if you can take a readable screenshot of the episode screen, Podshot can usually work with it.

Features & Functionality

Option 1 – Inside Podshot:

  1. Open a podcast episode in Podshot.
  2. Tap play
  3. When you hear something you want to remember, tap the Podshot capture button.
  4. The app creates a Podshot with an AI summary, transcript snippet, and a place for your own notes.

Option 2 – From another podcast app via screenshot:

  1. Play an episode in your usual podcast app.
  2. Take a screenshot when something important hits.
  3. Open Podshot and import the screenshot.
  4. TPodshot detects the episode and moment, then creates a Podshot with AI summary + transcript snippet + notes.

Yes. You can:

  • Edit the title
  • Add or update your notes

AI summaries and transcripts are auto-generated, but you can always layer your own edits and context on top.

Yes. Podshot works with your device’s standard media controls (play/pause, skip, etc.) and also lets you customize certain earbud actions.

In Settings, you can choose which supported tap or press gesture (for example, double-tap or long-press) will trigger a Podshot capture while keeping your usual play/pause controls intact.

No. Podshot is currently optimized for audio-only podcasts.

Account & Data

Your Podshots are stored securely in the cloud and linked to your Podshot account. We also cache data locally on your device for fast access.

Data is encrypted in transit and stored using reputable cloud providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

Yes. As long as you sign in with the same account, your Podshots can sync across supported devices (where available). That means you can capture on your phone and review later on another device.

If you cancel a paid plan:

  • You keep your Podshot account and existing Podshots (we don’t automatically delete them).
  • You return to the free plan — 2 Podshots per week instead of unlimited. You keep AI summaries and transcripts on the Podshots you create.

You can always request full account and data deletion through the app or by contacting support.

Yes. We only use your listening and interaction data to:

  • Provide core features (like resuming playback)
  • Improve Podshot’s performance and reliability
  • Understand general usage patterns

We do not sell your data or use it for cross-app tracking or personalized advertising. For full details, check our Privacy Policy.

Technical & Troubleshooting

AI transcription isn’t perfect, especially with:

  • Background noise
  • Very fast speech or strong accents
  • Poor audio quality

You can:

  • Make sure you’re capturing from a clear, high-quality source
  • Re-capture the moment a few seconds earlier or later
  • Manually edit your notes to correct key details

We’re constantly working to improve transcription and summarization quality.

You don’t connect them to Podshot directly. Just:

  1. Connect your headphones/earbuds to your phone as usual (Bluetooth or wired).
  2. Open Podshot and press play.

Audio will automatically play through whatever output your device is currently using.

If Podshot can’t detect the episode from a screenshot:

  • Make sure the screenshot includes the show title, episode title, and playback bar.
  • Try taking the screenshot on the main “Now Playing” screen of your podcast app.
  • If detection still fails, you can manually search for the podcast and episode inside Podshot.

If it keeps happening, send us a sample screenshot at tech@podshot.ai so we can improve detection.

Right now, Podshot is optimized for English-language podcasts. Other languages may partially work but are not fully supported yet.

Support for additional languages is on our roadmap, and we’ll announce new language support in the app when it’s available.

Legal & Support

In general:

  • Using Podshots for your personal, non-commercial use is fine.
  • Sharing short snippets, quotes, or your own commentary is common, but copyright laws vary by country and by how much you share.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of any podcast content (including AI-generated summaries or excerpts) complies with applicable law and the podcast’s own terms. When in doubt, keep shared excerpts short and add your own commentary, or ask the creator for permission.

You can reach us at:

All purchases and subscriptions are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play:

  • For refunds, you’ll need to request one directly through the respective store, following their refund process.
  • We can’t process refunds ourselves, but we’re happy to help point you to the right place if you email tech@podshot.ai.

You can cancel future renewals anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
